Developed for Special Forces Units by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division, the purpose of the Special Purpose Rifle (SPR) was to increase the accuracy and effective range of the AR-15 platform. The SPR was perfect for intermediate engagement distances seen on the battlefield, and filled a critical tactical gap between the standard issue M-4/M-16, and heavier sniper rifles.

Featuring specialized, high quality component upgrades, the Sharpshooter maximizes the long range accuracy and effectiveness of the 5.56 NATO cartridge. From varmint hunting to personal defense, the Sharpshooter is able to seamlessly transition between situational engagements, making it an ideal multi-purpose platform.

Specialized Upgrades:

1. LaRue Tactical MBT-2S Straight Bow Trigger: Get ready for glass-smooth, hyper-consistent trigger that will satisfy even the most scrupulous competition shooter, but is also battlefield tough. The MBT-2S-SB breaks crisply at 4.5 lbs (2.5 lb first stage, 2 lb second stage) and has a smooth and positive reset. The straight bow offers greater surface area against the finger-pad, resulting in faster and more intuitive shots.
2. Criterion Barrels 18″ Match Grade barrel: This stainless steel precision barrel provides superior accuracy with the added durability of chrome-lining. Criterion barrels are used by the US Army Marksmanship Unit Action Shooting Team and the US Marine Corps Combat Shooting Team. This should tell you two things; they’re accurate as hell, and can withstand heavy use.
3. Bravo Company A5 Intermediate Buffer System: The intermediate length receiver extension increases length of pull while utilizing a rifle action spring and 3.8oz VLTOR A5 buffer. This hybrid system aids in lowering bolt carrier velocity, reduces cyclic rate, and softens felt recoil, increasing overall reliability and performance. (NOTE: This system is not interchangeable with carbine or rifle length buffer components.)
4.  Magpul ACS-L Stock: A slimmed-down, lightweight, version of Magpul’s popular ACS stock. The ACS-L provides extra maneuverability while retaining the wide, sloping top for a secure, comfortable cheekweld. Includes QD socket, a storage compartment in the tail of the stock, and the friction locking system that prevents unwanted wobble after extending the stock.
